Aldi will expand its click-and-collect grocery service in an effort to make it available to more than 200 stores across the UK in the run-up to Christmas.

The discount grocer signed an agreement with mdf commerce for its omnichannel commerce solution Orckestra Commerce Cloud which will support the expansion.

The initiative presents an opportunity to offer a service in high demand across the UK and provide customers the option of contactless shopping.

The service means customers will be able to access Aldi’s full grocery range contact-free through online shopping.

Shoppers can choose from a range of grocery items online, then drive to their local store where their shopping is brought to their car by Aldi colleagues contact-free, in line with social distancing rules.

Aldi begun its first ever UK click-and-collect service in the Midlands in September as part of a trial to offer “greater flexibility” to its customers.

“Aldi has always offered amazing quality products at unbeatable prices and our new click-and-collect service provides customers with even more choice when shopping with us,” Aldi managing director of IT David Barter said.

“Mdf commerce has been a key partner to the process, providing their platform and expertise to help us introduce this new service.”
